How to Fix Hat Hair and Other Winter Problems

As we discovered on our recent ski trip, winter is a great time for hair because there's no humidity; but it also comes with a couple of major issues- namely static and hat head.

We checked in with our favorite stylist, Sarah Rappolt, at the Bumble and Bumble Salon in NYC. Since static is caused by dry conditions, Sarah recommends shampooing less frequently in the winter. If it freaks you out not to wash everyday, try rinsing your hair with water, condition if you want and use your fingertips to scrub your scalp. When it's time to wash your hair use something gentle like Bb Seaweed. After washing, the key is to layer on products. First towel dry, then use Bb Prep which evens out your hair's porosity, detangles and conditions, then towel dry again. Use a styling spray like Bb Styling Lotion for hold and shape and blow dry. Finish with hair spray and de frizz like Bb Does It All and you'll be static free. For hat hair, you'll be fine if you do the above steps, then flip your hair over and shake it out at the roots.

Haven't tried the TIGI dry shampoo yet--though we do swear by dry shampoos. Hope loves Ojon while Annie is committed to Bumble and Bumble. Thanks for the tip!
